garment care + cleaning

After Shipment

** Vigorously (but gently) shake all items after shipment to bring back volume and shape.

** Do not machine wash or tumble dry ANY Nong Rak garments, as it will damage or destroy them.

** Do not hang knits or other delicate fabrics from the shoulders for long periods, it will be best to fold and store them flat on a shelf.

** Do not layer mohair under other garments as it causes matting and volume loss.

For Care / Cleaning

Raw Handwoven Silks -

(such as our Runner Short, Uniform Pant and Tent Dress + more)

* We do not recommend wearing for high-energy activities or sports as the fabric is more fragile than standard fabrics and can split if pulled to tight. Wear and store with extra care.

Iron on medium heat.

Dry clean to keep a 'pressed' look

OR for those who are practiced with handwashing, gently hand-wash with cold water and mild soap (such as gentle shampoo) to soften fabric over time. Do not soak. Roll in towel to soak up excess water. Hang to dry and re-iron.

Mai Kaew Crumpled 'Glass' Silks -

(such as our 'Glass' Blazer, 'Glass' Tent Dress + more)

Infrequent cleaning recommended. The wrinkle pattern / crinkled texture will change and morph with wear which is part of the design and we recommend always storing in the drawstring bag for best results.

Gently hand-wash with cold water and mild soap (such as gentle shampoo). Do not soak. Roll in towel to soak up excess water. Hang to dry until 80% dried, then gently twist and crumple-up into storage bag to complete drying process.  Once completely dried inside (ideally overnight), remove from bag and shake well to help 'pleats' bloom and relax, at which time the piece can be worn as-is or it can be partially steamed to volume desired. If you desire less crumpled texture, hang outside of the storage bag and pleats will settle somewhat over time.

Nong Rak Original Brushed Mohair -

(Such as our Blur Bonnet, Blur Palette Jumper, one-of-a-kind pieces + more)

Dry clean only - infrequent cleaning recommended.

Periodically brush with bristle brush or clean pet brush to re-fluff fibers. Friction is the enemy for these fibers (which causes matting) please wear and store with extra care to preserve the texture. Stored flat on a shelf away from other garments is best.

Various Thai Silk, Cotton and Mixed Fiber Knits -

(Such as our Debris line and other one-of-a-kind pieces)

Infrequent cleaning recommended.

Gently hand wash with cold water, roll in towel to absorb excess water and lay flat to dry. Be extra gentle with any embellishment or beading. Infrequent washing recommended.

Raw Thai Silk Shoes -

* We do not recommend wearing for high-energy activities as the fabric is more fragile than standard shoe fabrics. Wear and store with extra care.

Spot clean only.

Due to the rawness of the cotton canvas lining, some fraying is to be expected - simply cut away any threads to clean up.
