HANDMADE TEXTILES & LIMITED PRODUCTION we work with raw, handwoven silks and hard-to-find yarns, all in limited supply— enough for just a few pieces (or less) per colorway. Once the fabric or yarn is used up, its exact shade, weave, or texture won’t normally be found again, making each garment a special part of our evolving creative / design process. No two are exactly alike.

A NOTE ON FIT / SIZING soft silhouettes, adjustable closures, adaptable proportions, and sculptural shapes mean most styles have been designed to adapt to many different body shapes and sizes. If you’re between sizes or unsure, we’ll gladly help you find the right fit. Contact us via IG @thenongrak or via our contact page above.

A piece of our ongoing Nong Rak Original fiber-art collection, first released in 2021. Each piece is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind using carefully sourced deadstock vintage, cruelty-free, and artisan hand-spun / dyed yarns of the most singular and luxurious variety.

Blur Brushed Mohair Pinafore Raw Thai Silk Babydoll Dress (denim)

Includes silk drawstring backpack for storage, cleaning and to keep crumpled 'pleats' intact.

Fits S-L with a lot of stretch. Seen on XS model, 5'10" tall.

Measurements - Bust fits comfortably up to 38 inches, total length is ~48 inches.

Knit of carefully selected vintage and modern goat mohair yarns using our vintage hand-powered domestic knitting machine, then carefully hand-brushed to create a high-texture pile before sewing in a skirting made of raw handwoven Thai silk. We use the raw edges of the weaving for the bottom hem to accentuate the organic nature of this material.

  • Vintage mohair yarns vary in content from 70-100% mohair, 0-20% wool and 0-10% synthetic (only used for the inner core of the yarn for strength in some cases)
  • Thai Silk is 100% handwoven mulberry silk

Purchases support small, family business, Thai artisans / sericulture and local cottage industry.

For Care / Cleaning

For top - Periodically brush with bristle brush or clean pet brush to re-fluff fibers. Wear and store with extra care to preserve the texture. Dry clean only (infrequently).

To re-crumple the bottom - crumple up and small as possible (silk only, try to keep mohair out of this part) into the bag and put a book on it for a few days, or steam it. Once taken out of the bag, shake well to bring volume back. The shape will change with wear and is part of the design.
